Part 3 sunrise

Touch the Sky

This song has been very uplifting to me lately. Especially as I stood there watching this.

Music Brought Us Together part 3

While visiting her we booked a hotel for 4 days in Virginia Beach. I will admit that I could have careless for all the hotels and the busy streets, stores, people and club/bars that Virginia Beach has there.

But once you walk past all the streets, stores, hotels , people on bikes and walking on the boardwalk, take a few steps down the stairs and walk through sand to find a spot.  This is what I came for

A night i will never forget. We both sat there on the beach listening to the sounds of the ocean until midnight ,while talking and taking photos.  Of course i could not miss sunrise another reason for coming here.  I went out to watch the sky over the ocean become a doorway into time.  Where time seemed to swell at every changing moment and took me to new heights.   These moment were very emotional for me and i can not express more how much i needed to be there at this moment in time.

Music brought us together Part 2

This next part of my vacation took me to Richmond ,VA and Virginia Beach for the rest of my vacation.
I went here to see my friend Betsy.

How do I know someone that lives here ....  Music

Would you believe I met Betsy at a concert! I was sitting fourth row at a concert all the way in Dayton, Ohio, when the lady sitting next to me just happen to have won a meet and greet with the artist.

she was looking at her camera and of course I wanted to see the picture.  We talked while waiting for the show to begin and before we knew it a friendship began.  She went out with me and some of my friends after the show and since then we have kept in touch.

Betsy Foster Breen is a music composer of contemporary music

Betsy's Celtic instrumental "The Highlands" won 4th place in the 2009 Indie International Songwriting Contest.

Step Back in Time #10

I finally got to see Styx, a rock group from the late 70's, early 80's at our county fair

The crowd still loves this group and you can't help but sing along to " come sail away, come sail away with me"

Here are the band members

                                                                           James Young

Tommy Shaw

Ricky Phillips

Lawrence Gowan on keyboards

Todd Sucherman on drums

As I'm sitting in the stands
As I start to take pictures, I had to laugh because I realized  they seem to love their photo opps while performing.  It seemed like the whole show, they moved to parts of the stage and did their pose or stance with their guitar.

Do i dare say it started to feel a little cheesy when they made it so obvious.

All and all I still had a good time and my son enjoyed their music too.  plus it made me feel like a teenager again getting to hear them sing this

Redlight

Your whole life you are sitting at a redlight
tears running down your face
do you go straight
do you turn left
do you turn right
do you go back
miles doesn't matter anymore
looking for the right road
to lead you home
the light is green

I've died and gone country!

I've died and gone country! Well at least for one night, I did.

While growing up, country music to me was listening to groups like Alabama or singers like Dolly Parton and John Denver.

Today's country music still has that back beat country sound, but at the same time has taken on a new form that gives it a whole new feeling when I listen to it.

I would love to see Rascal Flatts and Lone Star but last night I got to see Josh Turner.

Now here's a man with very DEEP low register vocals.  There's nothing better to turn me on then a man that can go deep when he sings!!

He has a great voice!

A great sense of humor

New Music

Will I go see him again,if I have a chance?

Yes I would!

Alex Clare

My  NEW addiction as of yesterday is rockin my ipod called "Too Close"

Alex Clare is just the sort of musician you’re glad is still being made in the country’s basements, backrooms and bedrooms. Born and bred in South East London and raised on his dad’s bebop records, as a child Alex toyed with the trumpet before taking up the drums to help him get rid of all his nervous energy.

I also am liking this song by him too.

part 2 of trip

While I was in DC , I got to go see some of the places.  up until now i have only seen Washington DC in a book or on TV.
I wish I got to spend more time on this part of my trip but timing wasn't right and the heat didn't help either.
I got to see the Lincoln Memorial and the White House. We passed a lot of the others up since we only had time for a couple of places.

I stood in front of the wall were the his two famous speeches are and took notice to certain words that stood out to me.

                              DO WE PRAY

JUDGMENTS

ALL NATIONS

Drive -bys of places I want to see the next time I come

For some reason I always thought the White House was more visiable from the gates but with all the trees and shrubs, you can only see this, but it was still nice to see this grand building where our Nation Presidents have lived (well most of them).

This ends the first part of my trip.  Next stop was Virginia Beach, VA  to visit with my freind Betsy.

a day of rain

Pure
     Sweet
            Wet
                 life we long for

soften moist drops
touching my lips

we drink the sand
for we long for
a taste , a moment
on our skin

I tilt back my head
          and close my eyes
                       let it pour
