lover all alone

The lady that did this video went by the name of Gerwhisp.  I never got to meet her in person but I knew her from posting on the same message board for the past few years.   Last week Gerwhisp past away from a strep A infection.   Even tho we cross each others paths in one way or another, you get to know some people on this world of internet.  The message board I belong to will miss her.

Mickey Wax/ Ghost in Love

I might get to meet Mickey Wax on May 5th.   I was invited to a special acoustic show he's doing in Fort Wayne, IN

Then do we hear it, then do we feel it?

All you have to do is listen.

run away /mat kearney

Loving this song, it has me dancing around to it.

Kings of Leon/ Radioactive

monks

I don't know what it is about this kind of music.  Is it the voices that come together to blend in such a way or is it the way their voices seem to fill the air.  Their voices seem to touch every corner of space that is possible and every part of you takes in this beautiful music.

The light touches us

The light touches the edges of the pedals like it touches the edges of my soul.

happy pills/ norah jones

Like everyone else, life likes to throw us curves that we all have to deal with.  My curve this week is dealing with a fire in my garage.  Not major, I'm happy to report.  The fire was started from an electrical cord and the spark caught items in the garage on fire.  Luckily my son came home before it spread to the walls and the ceiling.  Fire Department came and my garage was saved.  So now to deal with the clean up.

Have a nice weekend everyone

My gentle giants are back

Life seems to go on around us and it amazes me at how it works.  They spring into action when the first blossom is bloomed.  The other day my parents tree was nothing but buds waiting to pop open and just like a jack in the box.... POP the very next day I pulled in to find the tree was full of color and flowed like a water fall.   My gentle giants were already buzzing around this tree trying to get all they could before night came.

Daddy's Little Girl

picture blend is done by M. White (thanks)

The only true man in my life has been my father. He is celebrating two mile stones this year. He turns 80 today, a feat we all hope to reach. The other, he will be celebrating 50 years married to my mother. He loves her as much now as he did the day he married her.

I’m the baby of four kids, him the baby of eight. I never really thought much about how this one little thing could connect us, but it does. A bound I will always treasure knowing how much we are alike.

Here stands a man who grew up in hard times. He would tell us about how they were sent out as kids (AS KIDS!) to work. His only payment was a meal. He quit school in the eighth grade but watched the evening news every night because he cared about our future. He spent his young life fighting in the Korean War. A war he will not tell us much about. Memories locked away in a hope chest, one day we might get to see. He provided for us, building our home with his own two hands. If you complained it was to cold in the house, his answer to you was “go outside and come back in”. I told him I plan on having it engraved on his tombstone. He has watched his brothers and sisters die before him. He looks back at old photographs now and I can see how much he misses them.

I look at him now with loving eyes, but that was never always the case or maybe I always have and just didn’t acknowledge it. My eyes gleamed when he would find old bottles out back while digging. A hobby my father enjoyed. He had a love for antiques and he would tell me why these bottles were so special. Today I love antiques thanks to him. I appreciate our past and the things that made us what we are today. I feared him as a child. I remember if I got into trouble he would make me go pick out a switch of the bush to a few smacks on the back of my legs. Trust me once is all I needed to never do it again.
I hated him as a teenager, sitting there at the supper table, thinking his voice was like fingers on a chalk board. No matter what I did or how bad I was, he still loved me unconditionally with only a stern talking about how hard he had it growing up. Now as an adult I sit here looking at a man I truly love with all my heart. His values and hard work is a part of me. I walk in his shadow trying to grasp what time I have left to be with him.

I stop in to check up on him now but give the excuse I need to do something.

I can see he’s tired and worn from a life time of living. A life that has been hard but he knew how to laugh and enjoy it too. He struggles each day but that does not stop him. The pain I see in his eyes is more than I can bear.

As I walk out the door and look back to see he is sleeping in the chair, my heart swells with the thoughts that will always haunt me.

Did I do ok?

Did I do it right?

Are you proud of me daddy?

All I ever wanted was your approval and

I’m almost 45 but I still my daddy’s little girl and ….

I love you daddy!

My father's favorite singer is Neil Diamond.

Culprit Guilty As Charged

Step Back in Time - part 4

WARNING: heavy metal 80's rock music

I know I mentioned my cousin Scott once before about him playing in a group back in the 80's and putting out an album.  I just love youtube and should have known I could find footage on them.

The first video was taped back in the 80's so my cousin is one of the guys with the big rock style hairdo.  He's not the lead singer so he's the other guy playing bass guitar.

The second video was done 2010.  I laugh , at seeing my cousin still rocking but without the hairdo.  He's now the one with the short blonde hair cut.   Sorry for the quality of the video.  I'm not the one that did the taping.  I have yet to see my cousin perform but hope to one day soon.

Ok I can't seem to get the first one up on this post but will post it after this one.

Lonely Looking Sky

Today my mind was filled with thoughts of coming events.  As I walked outside to find the sun on my face and a view of clouds that were more like mountains.  I took in my surrounding and allowed them take me to where I needed to go.

" You will begin to touch heaven, Jonathan, in the moment that you touch perfect speed. And that isn't flying a thousand miles an hour, or a million, or flying at the speed of light. Because any number is a limit, and perfection doesn't have limits. Perfect speed, my son, is being there."
~ Jonathan Livingston Seagull

pictures you get

As hard as I try to capture the perfect moment that says it all, sometimes you just get what you get.

Some funny pictures I got while at a concert.

Although in Clay Aiken's case, capturing his funny moments is why I like going to his concerts.

Ben Taylor, don't ask me  why he was making this face but it is priceless

Rumour Has It/ Adele

YES!! GO Adele!! GO!! This song grabs you with the drums, piano and the back up singers.  Usually when I hear a song I can pretty much tell you how far the song will get on the charts.  Another hit song for sure.  This is one person I want to see in concert.

stereo hearts

I thought I could post both versions of this song but all I can find is the remix.  I'm pretty sure when this song was first being played there was no rap but then the remix hit the airwaves and now this is all you here.  I love the remix but I like the original version also without the rap.  I feel like this song was written just for me. I'm a stereo and live my life as it was set to music.

Come take a walk with me in the park

Since Spring seems to be in the air ( at least for now because tomorrow we can have zero temperatures and a foot of snow in no time). I stopped at one of our parks called Bonneyville Mill to walk around and enjoy a day of taking pictures.

The mill established 1830's

A bridge to adventure

Locals

A time to reflect as we float down the river like this leaf

Water life in the pond

Enjoyed listening to the water as it flowed over the stones.

Owners must be out enjoying this weather

Colors in the water

Winter is still present

We have come full circle on our walk, next time I'll make it a longer walk.

Thank you for taking a walk with me

Step Back in Time - part 3

I never got a chance to post a video in honor of Davy Jones passing away last week.

I wanna be free

As much I love Day Dream Believer, I figure I would post a different song.

Sky Pearl

Sky Pearl

This ardent pearl sits in an ocean of stars, shaped to perfection to be held in our hands.
Angels loom, while cosmic storms crash at its sides. Ocean tides beat one with this pearl, as waves swell and crash like a song for all of us to hear.
A thin flame of colors succumbs to this pearl. Orange and blue penetrate through the clouds, letting us see into the night.

Kings and Queens have been born beneath this pearl, while wars of blood have been fought beneath this pearl.
Hopes and dreams take flight beneath this pearl , while lovers lie down beneath this pearl.
Gods of heaven align the plants, while the light will guide you to a path unknown.
I follow that path and the light has led me to you.

I weep at its beauty crumbling to the ground for I am nothing beneath it. I find refuge in the light.
Step out and look at this pearl, I asked you. We are miles apart, yet I feel your heart beating. We become one beneath this pearl.
My heart moves but unsure which way to go, I take a breath.
This sky pearl has led me to know only two paths; one led towards fulfillment, the other towards disappointment.

John Denver

This is the man I had a crush on while growing up.  His music is why I love listening to country.  His songs took you to his world and made me long to be in the mountains. When I need to be by myself and reflect I listen to his music. I regret to this day I had a chance to see him when he came to my area but I could not afford a ticket.  He died only a few months later.

love affair with his hands

Yes, I will have to admit while growing up, I had a love affair with Roy Clark's hands.  There are only a few instruments that seem to do something to me.  My favorite instruments are piano, guitar, violin /fiddle and banjo. Roy Clark seemed to be able to play what ever was handed to him. I love a good banjo and fiddle song any day.

Country Music

I'm feeling a little country this week.  I will have to admit I have not been to a lot of country music concerts.  I probably been to maybe 4 so far.  I hope to see groups like Rascal Flatts and Lone Star or Sugarland.  I do love bluegrass so I plan on posting some bluegrass music.  I know country music isn't for everyone but I figure I would post some this week.

A step back in time part 2

I get to see Elton John next month!!!!!!

Can you tell I'm excited! By the time I looked to see where he was playing and to see if any tickets were left, not one seat was available. Last monday a radio station posted that he added a new tour stop and it is only 2 hours away on a saturday night. Tickets went on sell today and my friend was able to get us our tickets.

***  I had this song on a 45 record.( I still might have it too)

ZAKK WYLDE - Between Heaven And Hell

I was looking for a certain song and stumbled upon this artist. I plan on checking more of his music out that's for sure!

National Inclusion Project

I know this has nothing to do with music but it's a passion of mine and wanted to share.  I am a firm believer of using your voice.  To be more giving through volunteering is something I have come to love. I support this foundation because it's about Inclusion.  Inclusion is bridging the gap so kids with disabilities can be apart of the world around them.  To let them be kids by letting them play with other kids. They have become one of the number one foundations that support inclusion. They help support programs to bring all kids together and help make this dream into reality.

I have helped raise money for this foundation through volunteering during wrapping for inclusion and raffle auctions.

I have added a link so if you know of a program that is interested in inclusion and needs help in making it a reality, then share this amazing foundation with them.

Rise Up by Third Day

The Purpose of Being

The Purpose of Being

The butterfly climbs mercifully from its cocoon
into the morning light.
The morning sunrise hitting upon his wings
as he spreads them to feel the movement of the wind.
He is finding his purpose. What is our purpose?
To create, to destroy
To love , to hate
To laugh, to cry
To live, to die
What is our purpose?
The butterfly flutters his way across the open field
towards the morning light
as if there was no tomorrow... knowing there is no tomorrow
knowing his purpose
