RIP Dick Clark

As the music industry says goodbye to a man that took music to a whole new level.

My passion for music is thanks to him and all my Saturday afternoons of watching American Bandstand.

His light will always shine....

  1. Nice music prompt for Dick Clark.

His show gave me unrelenting motivations after listening and watching him on Saturdays. I was in a couple of local musical bands, singer, and his show gave the bands I was part of ideas for the songs we wanted to sing and perform.

He came across as a 'down to earth' celebrity with an icon stature. He will be greatly missed but will not be forgotten.

Have a great time at the Elton John concert in Indy. I hope he takes a moment to commemurate Dick Clark.

Talk to you soon mi amiga

  2. He definitely started something big and powerful. Up till then, only late night comedians might introduce a singer or two, people who were already well known. Dick Clark brought the new groups to his show, and all teens watched not just to hear the songs, but to dance with the television audience, teens like they were.

I know that I learned a great deal about American music from watching American Bandstand. (I was a teen when I first arrived in America in the sixties.)

  3. Yes, what an impact he had! A nice tribute, thank you.

So true what you said about YouTube at my place. It has so changed our lives to be able to share these beauties.

  4. Nene, I'm glad he influenced you like he did me. So cool you was in a band

Rosaria, I loved watching the show to watch all the new bands and not for the dancing, I have to left feet. My father in law came here to America from Belgium when he was a teenager too.

Ruth, Thanks he is one I hope effected everyone one way or another.
